Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona base: €10m estate with pitch, pools and cinema

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has bought a luxury mansion in Esplugues de Llobregat valued at more than €10m, a property previously owned by Shakira and Gerard Pique.

The 19-year-old now lives in the exclusive Ciutat Diagonal residential complex, where the house includes a private football pitch, an outdoor swimming pool with a waterfall, an indoor pool and a cinema.

Yamal’s rapid rise has made him one of the most closely followed young footballers in Europe, with growing interest in his life away from the pitch. The Barcelona and Spain forward was raised in the Rocafonda neighbourhood of Mataro before making a remarkable breakthrough at club and international level.

He made his first-team debut for Barcelona in 2023 at the age of 15. A few months later, he played for Spain for the first time and became the youngest player to score for the national team.

Since then, Yamal has won three league titles, the European Championship and the World Cup, establishing himself as an important player for both Barcelona and Spain. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, he has also become one of the youngest footballers to win the World Cup.

A high-profile Barcelona property

The mansion, designed by architect Mireia Admetller in 2012, covers more than 3,800 square metres. It is spread across three floors and two underground levels.

Its facilities include large windows, the outdoor pool and waterfall, an indoor swimming pool, a private gym, a padel court, a cinema room, a wine cellar, a recording studio and a full-size private football pitch.

Yamal has retained the bright, modern character associated with Shakira’s former decor, while adding personal touches of his own. Trophies, awards and memorabilia from his short but successful career are displayed throughout the property.

He has also updated the furniture, preserving the open and comfortable style that characterised his previous home.

The residential complex contains four separate houses. One belongs to Pique’s parents, while another is owned by Shakira’s parents. The main house is now Yamal’s, while the fourth property is still awaiting renovation work.

The mansion’s elevated position gives it views across Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea, adding to its status as one of the city’s most recognisable homes.

Three-month purchase process

The deal was completed after three months of negotiations. The legal process was handled by lawyers and took place without the previous owners being present.

The property had been the setting for a number of family and media moments involving Shakira and Pique. It has now become Yamal’s new home as he begins a different stage of his life, marked by sporting success and greater stability.

Yamal was only 18 when he began the process of buying the house. He now lives in one of the best-known properties in Barcelona, having followed a career path that began with his childhood in Mataro and quickly took him to the top level of European football.
