Trabzonspor confirm Folcarelli knee surgery as Mohamed Salah excitement builds

Trabzonspor have confirmed that young midfielder Tim Jabol-Folcarelli has undergone successful knee surgery and faces a period on the sidelines, just as attention around the Turkish club has intensified following the arrival of Mohamed Salah.

“Detailed medical examinations and magnetic resonance imaging scans revealed an injury to the lateral meniscus of the knee, which required immediate surgical intervention,” Bashir said.

The operation was carried out by Dr Mustafa Sengun at Acıbadem Fulya Hospital, Trabzonspor’s hospital partner. The club said the procedure was completed successfully, with the damaged section of the meniscus removed using arthroscopy.

Trabzonspor added that its medical staff would begin an intensive rehabilitation programme immediately. The aim is to prepare Folcarelli to return to group training as soon as possible, although the club did not give a specific timeframe for his recovery.

The announcement comes at a sensitive moment for Turkish football, with international focus now fixed on Trabzonspor after the club’s move for Egypt forward Mohamed Salah. His transfer has generated major interest among Turkish and global football supporters and is expected to increase the league’s commercial and sporting profile.
