Celta Vigo have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir on loan for the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old Turkey international has completed a move to the Spanish club, giving him the opportunity to play regular football away from Old Trafford while remaining contracted to Manchester United.

Bayindir joined Manchester United in 2023 from Fenerbahce. Since arriving at the club, he has made 17 appearances for the Red Devils, including six during last season.

The goalkeeper had been close to securing the number one position at Manchester United after Andre Onana’s departure. However, he subsequently returned to the role of second-choice goalkeeper following the arrival of Lammens.

His move to Celta Vigo will also give Bayindir the chance to play European football during the coming campaign. The club are due to compete in the UEFA Europa League after finishing sixth in last season’s La Liga table.

Bayindir’s transfer provides Celta Vigo with another option in goal as they prepare for a season involving both domestic and continental competition. For the Turkish goalkeeper, the loan represents an opportunity to increase his playing time after making only 17 appearances for Manchester United since his move from Fenerbahce.

Six of those appearances came last season, highlighting the limited opportunities available to him at the Manchester club. Although he had moved closer to a starting role following Onana’s departure, the arrival of Lammens saw him become the second-choice goalkeeper again.

Celta Vigo’s sixth-place finish in La Liga secured their place in the UEFA Europa League for the next season. Bayindir will therefore be able to add continental matches to his schedule while playing for the Spanish side.

Manchester United signed Bayindir in 2023, bringing him to England from Fenerbahce. He has since featured 17 times for the club, but will now spend the upcoming campaign with Celta Vigo on a season-long loan.

The move was announced by Celta Vigo on Friday, 7 August 2026.
