Kaizer Chiefs confirm Faiz Abrahams as fifth signing of 2026/27 window

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of winger Faiz Abrahams from Stellenbosch, making him the club’s fifth arrival of the transfer window ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 21-year-old joins Amakhosi on a season-long loan, with Kaizer Chiefs holding an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

Abrahams was part of the South Africa Under-20 national team that won the Africa Cup of Nations. His move to Naturena represents another significant stage in the development of a player who has already experienced football in several different environments.

The winger is a product of the iKamva Academy and began his professional career with Cape Town Spurs. He later moved to Stellenbosch before spending last season on loan in Israel.

His future had been the subject of considerable speculation during the current transfer window. Abrahams was strongly linked with a move to Durban City, although the two parties were unable to reach agreement on personal terms.

A possible switch to Orlando Pirates was also discussed. That proposed move was connected to a potential swap deal involving Abrahams and goalkeeper Dion Boom, with Kabelo Dlamini potentially moving in the opposite direction. The arrangement ultimately failed to materialise.

Instead, Abrahams will continue his career with Kaizer Chiefs, a move that underlines the club’s intention to add promising attacking players to the squad assembled by new head coach Fernando da Cruz.

The winger becomes the latest player to move to Naturena from the Cape Winelands during the current window. He follows Langelihle Phili and Thabo Moloisane, who also made the journey from the same region to join Kaizer Chiefs.

The club have also strengthened their squad with the signings of Relando Leaner from Sekhukhune United and Adolf Bitegeko from Azam.

Abrahams’ arrival gives Da Cruz another young attacking option as Kaizer Chiefs prepare for the new season. His loan agreement allows the club to assess his contribution over the campaign while retaining the opportunity to secure his services on a permanent basis.

For Abrahams, the move provides a fresh opportunity after a period that has included spells with Cape Town Spurs, Stellenbosch and a loan in Israel. His international success with the South Africa Under-20 team has also enhanced his profile, and he will now look to establish himself at one of the country’s most prominent clubs.

The agreement brings an end to the immediate uncertainty surrounding his next destination, after interest from Durban City and the proposed Orlando Pirates swap had failed to produce a deal. Kaizer Chiefs have now completed the move and added Abrahams to their growing list of recruits for the 2026/27 campaign.
