Vinicius Junior given new Real Madrid contract terms as Arsenal wait for outcome

Real Madrid have improved their contract offer to Vinicius Junior but are seeking an immediate response from the Brazil forward, with Arsenal continuing to monitor the situation during the current transfer window.

Vinicius’ future at the Spanish club remains uncertain because his existing agreement is due to expire at the end of next season. Arsenal are understood to have a strong interest in signing the 25-year-old, increasing the pressure on Real Madrid to resolve the situation.

A meeting took place on Wednesday between representatives of Vinicius and Real Madrid in an attempt to break the deadlock over a proposed extension. The club was represented by Jose Angel Sanchez and Juni Calafat, but the discussions ended without an agreement being reached.

Real Madrid have now raised their initial proposal to a package worth €24m net per season, according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited Spanish radio station Cadena SER. The improved terms would keep Vinicius at the club until 2031.

However, the figure remains below the €30m per year initially requested by the player. Reports from AS have suggested that Vinicius may have reduced his original demand by allowing performance-related or other bonuses to be included in the new contract. That is a structure Real Madrid could also be willing to consider as negotiations continue.

Financial terms are not the only unresolved issue. The proposed renewal bonus remains a point of disagreement, while the two parties are also divided over image rights.

At present, image rights are shared equally between Real Madrid and the player, with each receiving 50%. Vinicius wants that balance changed in his favour as part of any new agreement.

Despite the lack of a final deal, the mood around the negotiations is understood to be more positive than it was only a few days ago. Both sides are said to be more optimistic about reaching an agreement, although significant differences remain over the value and structure of the contract.

Cadena SER reported that Real Madrid now want a quick decision from Vinicius. The next move is therefore considered to be in the player’s hands, with the club waiting for his response to the revised proposal.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are watching the negotiations from the sidelines and waiting to discover whether Vinicius will commit his future to Real Madrid or become available as a possible target in the current transfer market. The uncertainty surrounding the Brazil international’s contract means the outcome of the talks could have a significant bearing on his next step.
