Matthias Jaissle bids farewell to Al-Ahli Saudi FC supporters after exit

Matthias Jaissle has thanked Al-Ahli Saudi FC supporters for their faith in him after formally leaving the club, offering an emotional farewell following a period of intense criticism from sections of the fanbase.

The German coach, who resigned before the start of the season with one year remaining on his contract, addressed supporters in his first public comments since his departure from the Saudi Arabian club.

Jaissle shared the message on his official Instagram account, highlighting the role Al-Ahli’s fans played in his time in Jeddah. He said their support had been central to his experience and described his spell with the club as one of the most significant chapters of his coaching career.

“From the first day, you, the fans, were the ones who gave me confidence and believed in me. After three years, winning two AFC Champions League Elite titles, lifting the Saudi Super Cup and experiencing many unforgettable moments, I leave Jeddah with nothing but pride and love for you,” Jaissle wrote.

His departure had followed a difficult period, with supporters expressing strong anger after the decision to step down was announced so close to the beginning of the new campaign. The timing of the resignation, together with the fact that his contract still had a further season to run, led to a fierce reaction from Al-Ahli fans.

Jaissle’s message nevertheless focused on the achievements and memories of his time at the club rather than the circumstances surrounding his exit. He said the matches, challenges and celebrations shared with the team had left a lasting impression.

“Every match, every challenge and every celebration made this journey unforgettable,” he added.

During his tenure, Jaissle led Al-Ahli to two AFC Champions League Elite triumphs and success in the Saudi Super Cup. Those achievements formed the main part of the coach’s reference to the club’s progress, as he reflected on the moments that would remain with him after leaving Saudi Arabia.

The former Al-Ahli manager ended his message by thanking the supporters once again and wishing the club well for the future.

“Thank you for your trust and belief in me. I wish you all the best,” he said.
