Real Madrid poised to land Yan Diomande as RB Leipzig deal nears completion

Real Madrid are closer than ever to completing a deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with only the final formalities reportedly remaining before the Ivory Coast international’s move is made official.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sport Germany, said on Wednesday that Real Madrid and RB Leipzig were on the verge of reaching an agreement for the transfer.

“Big breakthrough! Real Madrid and Leipzig are on the verge of completing the transfer of Yan Diomande,” Plettenberg wrote on his account on X.

According to Plettenberg, the guaranteed fee in the agreement will be €125m. The value of the transfer is expected to rise to €135m once realistic performance-related bonuses are included, while the overall package could reach €140m if every bonus linked to difficult-to-achieve conditions is activated.

The structure of the deal will also provide a financial benefit for CD Leganes, Diomande’s former club. Plettenberg reported that Leganes will receive approximately 5% of the profit from the player’s transfer, in line with the agreement reached between the parties.

“Exclusive details: the guaranteed transfer fee amounts to €125m. With realistic bonuses added, the value is expected to rise to €135m, while the total could reach €140m if all bonuses linked to difficult conditions are achieved,” Plettenberg added.

He continued: “Leganes, his former club, will receive around 5% of the profit from the player’s transfer, according to the agreement between the parties. Only the final formalities remain before the deal is officially completed.”

Diomande impressed during his campaign with RB Leipzig last season and also produced a strong display for Cote d’Ivoire at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

The proposed move would take him from the Bundesliga to Real Madrid after his emergence at RB Leipzig and on the international stage. The deal has not yet been formally announced, but the reported agreement means the transfer is now at an advanced stage, with the clubs expected to complete the remaining administrative steps.

The figures involved would make the transfer one of the most significant deals of the summer. The €125m guaranteed amount, together with potential bonuses, places the final value between €135m and €140m depending on whether the performance conditions are met.

For now, the transfer remains subject to completion of those final formalities. Once they are concluded, Real Madrid are expected to confirm the signing of the Ivory Coast winger from RB Leipzig.
