Vuk Rasovic considers Roshn Saudi League opportunity after ending Zamalek talks

Vuk Rasovic is weighing a return to the Roshn Saudi League, just two years after leaving the competition, following the collapse of his proposed move to Egyptian club Zamalek.

The Serbian coach had been linked with taking charge of Zamalek for next season as a replacement for Moatamed Gamal. However, the Cairo-based club subsequently changed direction and decided to retain its Egyptian coach instead.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiya, Rasovic has now closed the door on a move to Zamalek and is considering alternative offers. The report says he is choosing between two proposals, one from the Roshn Saudi League and another from the Qatar Stars League.

Rasovic is expected to make a final decision within the next few hours, with both options under consideration. He has already turned down several other offers from Saudi clubs because he was not convinced by the details of their sporting projects.

The 51-year-old has previously worked in Saudi Arabia and is a familiar figure in the country’s domestic football. His first experience there came with Al Faisaly during the 2017-18 season.

He later took charge of Al Fayha, where he spent the period from 2021 to 2024. His most significant achievement in Saudi football came in 2022, when he guided Al Fayha to victory in the King’s Cup.

Al Fayha defeated Al Hilal in the final on penalties after the match ended 1-1 following normal time. The result secured Rasovic his biggest honour during his time in Saudi Arabia and marked a notable victory over one of the country’s leading clubs.

After ending his spell with Al Fayha, Rasovic returned to the United Arab Emirates, where he had previously managed Al Dhafra and Al Wahda. His latest coaching role was with Kalba, whom he remained with until February.

A return to Saudi Arabia would therefore represent another chapter in a league where Rasovic has already enjoyed a successful period. His record there, particularly the King’s Cup triumph with Al Fayha, has made him a candidate for clubs seeking an experienced coach with knowledge of the domestic competition.

For now, the Serbian manager is assessing the offer from the Roshn Saudi League alongside the proposal from Qatar. His decision follows Zamalek’s choice to continue with Gamal and ends the uncertainty over whether Rasovic would take up the Egyptian club’s position for the coming season.
