Marseille make Haissem Hassan priority as sales hold key to Real Oviedo deal

Haissem Hassan has made Olympique de Marseille his preferred destination for the next stage of his career, but the French club must sell players before it can open formal negotiations with Real Oviedo for the Egypt international.

Hassan has attracted interest from several clubs in recent weeks. However, the winger has chosen to reject those approaches in order to give priority to a move to Marseille, according to journalist Nordine Ali Said.

After several weeks of discussions, Marseille and Hassan have reached an agreement over personal terms. The progress means the player is now closer to a transfer to the club, although the proposed move is not yet complete.

The agreement between the player and Marseille does not constitute a full deal between the two clubs. Marseille must first reduce the size of its squad and raise funds through a number of sales before it can make an approach to Real Oviedo.

That financial step has been identified as essential to unlocking the transfer. Until Marseille generates the necessary liquidity, the club is not expected to move into the decisive stage of negotiations with Hassan’s current employers.

Hassan remains under contract with Real Oviedo until June 2027 and is currently valued at €8m. If Marseille can complete sales and bring in money in the coming days, the transfer could quickly move forward.

The Moroccan-based report also says Hassan is attracting attention from Egypt, with Al Ahly SC actively working to sign him. That interest gives the Real Oviedo player another potential destination while Marseille attempts to create the financial room required for the operation.

For now, the clearest progress has come in Marseille’s discussions with Hassan himself. Personal terms have been agreed after the talks between the two sides, but the French club still needs to complete work within its own squad before it can try to secure an agreement with Real Oviedo.

The situation leaves the proposed transfer dependent on Marseille’s ability to sell. Hassan’s preference is reportedly to join Olympique de Marseille, while the club’s next move will rely on raising funds and satisfying the conditions needed to advance negotiations for the player, who is contracted in Spain through June 2027.
