Mohamed Salah to wear number 10 at Trabzonspor after teammate agrees to switch

Mohamed Salah has chosen to wear the number 10 shirt at Trabzonspor after teammate Ernest Muci agreed to give up the jersey for the Egypt captain.

Turkish broadcaster A Spor reported that Trabzonspor’s management had initially reserved the number 11 shirt for Salah. However, Salah asked to wear number 10, the same number he uses with the Egypt national team.

Muci agreed to release the number for Salah, allowing the former to take the shirt associated with the Egypt captain at the Turkish club.

Salah is currently undergoing his medical examination as he prepares to complete his move to Trabzonspor. He arrived at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital in Turkey for the tests, which are required before he can formally join the club.

A number of supporters gathered outside the hospital to welcome Salah when he arrived. He reached Turkey early on Tuesday as preparations continued for his official transfer to Trabzonspor.

The forward wore a Trabzonspor shirt for the first time on the plane after arriving in Turkey.

Salah also addressed the club’s supporters in a message, saying: “Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you, and I will see you for the first time.”

He will complete his medical examination in Trabzon before signing the contract that will formally confirm his move to the Turkish club.

The agreement is expected to run for two seasons. Salah will earn 17m euros per season, with additional clauses and bonuses included in the deal.

The number 10 shirt had been held by Muci, but the Albania international agreed to allow Salah to take it after the Egyptian requested the number. Trabzonspor had originally planned for Salah to wear number 11, before the player’s preference for the shirt he uses internationally was accepted.

Salah’s arrival in Turkey has already attracted supporters, with fans waiting outside the hospital to greet him as he began the final steps of his move. His first appearance in Trabzonspor colours came during the journey to Turkey, ahead of the medical and contract-signing process.

The transfer will become official once Salah has completed the medical examination and signed the two-year agreement. Until then, the player remains in the process of finalising his move, with the club having already agreed the proposed salary and additional performance-related terms.
