Manchester City have opened contact with the representatives of Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as they consider a possible move for the Portugal international during the current summer transfer window.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Neto is one of Manchester City’s targets and could become a more prominent option if Savinho completes a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Manchester City have already spoken to Neto’s agents, Romano reports, but have not made a formal offer to Chelsea. There have also been no direct negotiations between the two clubs at this stage.

Any potential transfer is expected to depend on Chelsea’s financial demands. The London club have yet to indicate whether they would be prepared to allow Neto to leave, with the asking price likely to play an important role if Manchester City decide to step up their interest.

Neto’s situation is also being monitored by Tottenham Hotspur, who have included the winger among their attacking options. However, he is not currently their main target.

Tottenham Hotspur’s priority remains Savinho, and the club are expected to consider a move for Neto only if they fail to complete a deal for the player. Savinho is still regarded as the London club’s first-choice attacking target during this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester City’s interest in Neto is understood to be linked to a possible change in their attacking options. Should Savinho leave for Tottenham Hotspur, the former Chelsea winger could be considered as a replacement or an additional option for the squad.

The report also states that Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca wants to bring Neto into his team. Maresca was reportedly the reason for Neto joining Chelsea, and he is now keen to work with the Portugal international again at Manchester City.

For now, discussions have been limited to contact with the player’s representatives. No formal proposal has been submitted to Chelsea, and neither club has begun direct negotiations over a possible transfer.

Neto therefore remains a Chelsea player while Manchester City assess whether to pursue their interest. Tottenham Hotspur’s position is similarly dependent on the outcome of their pursuit of Savinho, leaving the winger’s future closely connected to developments elsewhere in the transfer market.
