Moffi, Carlos and Abdul Samed face uncertain futures at Nice

OGC Nice have moved Terem Moffi, Kevin Carlos and Salis Abdul Samed out of the senior training group as the club considers the next steps in their careers.

The trio will now work with Nice’s elite group rather than the first-team squad, according to L’Equipe. The arrangement will remain in place while their situations are resolved.

The decision follows a period in which all three players had already slipped down the pecking order during Nice’s summer preparations. Their omission from the squad for the friendly defeat by Juventus was a further indication that they are not part of the coaching staff’s immediate plans.

Nice lost that match 2-0, and the absence of Moffi, Carlos and Abdul Samed reinforced the impression that the club was preparing to move on from the players, at least in the short term.

Moffi remains under contract with Nice until June 2027 and is currently valued at 8m euros by Transfermarkt. The Nigeria international’s future is therefore one of the issues the club must settle as it continues to reshape its squad.

Carlos has a longer agreement, with his contract running until June 2030. Transfermarkt values the player at 4m euros.

Abdul Samed is also valued at 4m euros. The midfielder is contracted to Nice until June 2028, giving the club a significant period of control over his future should a transfer be pursued.

Of the three, Carlos has been linked with a possible move to Cagliari. That option has not been confirmed, however, and his situation remains unresolved.

Nice are continuing their efforts to reduce the size of the squad while waiting to see whether further departures can be completed before the end of the transfer window. The decision to place Moffi, Carlos and Abdul Samed with the elite group gives the club time to assess potential solutions while keeping the players involved in training.

For now, none of the three is included in Nice’s first-team plans. Their contracts remain in place, but their immediate roles at the club have changed significantly as Nice works towards determining their next destination.
