Al-Hilal’s financial muscle puts pressure on Atletico de Madrid in Jack Grealish race
Al-Hilal have made a strong move to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish by preparing a lucrative salary package that could influence the England international’s destination during the current summer transfer window.
The Saudi club are reportedly willing to offer Grealish an annual salary of between €20m and €23m as they attempt to persuade him to move to the Roshn League. Their interest comes as uncertainty continues over the winger’s future at Manchester City.
The figures were reported by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, who says Al-Hilal are ready to use their financial strength to make the proposed move attractive to Grealish.
Atletico de Madrid are also among the leading clubs interested in signing the player. Atletico manager Diego Simeone is understood to admire Grealish and believes the 29-year-old could recover his best form as part of the Spanish club’s project.
However, Atletico’s ability to complete a deal depends on Manchester City’s demands. According to Konur, the Madrid club will only proceed if City reduce their financial expectations or agree to a loan arrangement that includes an option to buy.
That condition gives Al-Hilal a clear financial advantage in the competition for Grealish’s signature. While Atletico could offer the prospect of a move to Spain, Al-Hilal’s proposed salary would be difficult for the Spanish side to match.
A transfer to Atletico would provide Grealish with the opportunity to play in the Champions League and move away from the pressures he has experienced in English football. Al-Hilal, meanwhile, are continuing to tempt him with an offer that would be challenging for rival clubs to compete with.
Grealish’s situation has also attracted interest from clubs in Major League Soccer. The involvement of teams from the United States gives Manchester City more options as they assess the offers expected for the England winger.
City now have several potential routes to consider before deciding Grealish’s next step. Al-Hilal’s financial proposal could reshape the contest, particularly if Atletico are unable to meet City’s valuation or provide an acceptable loan-to-buy arrangement.
The uncertainty surrounding the player’s future has therefore opened the door to a move outside Europe, despite Atletico’s interest and Simeone’s belief that Grealish can return to his highest level in Madrid. For now, Al-Hilal’s offer has placed them in a strong position as the summer transfer window develops.
