Raphael Onyedika opts for Eintracht Frankfurt move after Club Brugge spell

Raphael Onyedika’s prolonged transfer saga has ended with the Nigeria international joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Club Brugge on a contract running until 30 June 2031.

The German club confirmed the arrival of the 25-year-old on its official X account, bringing several weeks of uncertainty over the defensive midfielder’s future to a close.

Onyedika has committed himself to Eintracht Frankfurt for five seasons after completing his move from Club Brugge. The transfer fee is reported to be €9m, while his market value is estimated at €23m by Transfermarkt.

The Nigerian spent four seasons in Belgium, where he established himself and collected two league titles as well as a domestic cup. His time at Club Brugge also gave him significant experience at European football’s highest level.

Onyedika has played 24 matches in the Champions League, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Standing 1.84m tall, he will bring both defensive midfield experience and a strong record in European competition to his new club.

His departure follows recent interest from Saudi Arabia. Africafoot previously reported exclusively on that interest, but Onyedika has instead chosen to continue his career in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, a club that had tracked him for a considerable period.

Before the move, Onyedika was earning an annual salary of €677,851 in Belgium, equivalent to 440,603,150 CFA francs.

The agreement formally concludes his four-year period with Club Brugge and marks the next stage of a career that has already included domestic success and regular involvement in the Champions League. His new contract keeps him at Eintracht Frankfurt until the summer of 2031.
