Standard de Liege consider Mory Gbane move as Stade de Reims review squad costs

Standard de Liege have opened discussions over a possible move for Stade de Reims midfielder Mory Gbane as they assess options to strengthen their squad.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, initial contact has been established between the Belgian club and Stade de Reims regarding a potential transfer. The French side are understood to be willing to consider Gbane’s departure as they look to reduce their wage bill by moving on some high-value contracts.

That position could help create room for negotiations, although there is currently no indication that an agreement is close between the two clubs.

The talks remain at an early stage, with Standard de Liege and Gbane yet to make significant progress on the contractual details of a possible deal. The first contacts have taken place, but the discussions have not developed into a formal agreement.

Nevertheless, Standard’s interest is considered concrete and Gbane’s profile appears to fit the Belgian club’s requirements in midfield. The Liege side could now seek to move more quickly in the coming days if the dialogue continues, with the aim of convincing both Stade de Reims and the player.
