Ferran Torres tells Barcelona team-mates he wants Paris Saint-Germain move

Paris Saint-Germain have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Ferran Torres after the Barcelona forward told people close to him that he wants to join the European champions.

The Spain international has also informed several Barcelona team-mates of his decision, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. His stance has prompted the Catalan club to soften its position and indicate that it is now prepared to listen to offers for the 25-year-old.

Officials from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to hold talks at the beginning of next week as they attempt to find a formula for the transfer. No final agreement has been reached between the clubs.

Paris Saint-Germain are looking for a new forward following the departure of Portugal international Goncalo Ramos, and Torres is understood to be one of manager Luis Enrique’s main priorities.

Torres’ ability to operate as a central striker or across either flank is a key attraction for the French club. Luis Enrique believes that versatility would make him an ideal fit for Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking system.

Earlier reports from Spanish newspaper Sport claimed Paris Saint-Germain had told Torres they would be willing to improve any contract-renewal offer Barcelona might make. The French club is also confident it can persuade the player to move to Paris.

The interest follows the best campaign of Torres’ Barcelona career. He scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 33 La Liga appearances, while also making a significant contribution to Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph.

Torres scored the winning goal in the final against Argentina as Spain claimed the trophy. His form and tactical flexibility have strengthened his position among Paris Saint-Germain’s preferred attacking targets.

A move would make Torres the second player to leave Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the space of six months, following the transfer of emerging talent Dro Fernandez.

Ousmane Dembele moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain three seasons ago, meaning Torres would become the latest established Barcelona player to join the French side if negotiations result in an agreement.

For now, the clubs remain at the stage of preparing for talks, with no settled transfer fee or completed deal. However, Torres’ preference for a move to Paris has changed the situation and opened the way for formal discussions between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
