Reda Slim opens door to Al Masry move after rejecting Egyptian offers

Reda Slim has softened his position on leaving Al Ahly for another Egyptian club and is now showing greater flexibility over a possible move to Al Masry during the current summer transfer window.

A source at Al Ahly had previously said that Slim had rejected all domestic offers and remained determined to join Moroccan club AS FAR on a permanent basis. However, FilGoal.com reports that the player is now open to the possibility of continuing his career in Egypt with Al Masry.

No agreement has been announced, and the latest development concerns Slim’s willingness to consider the move rather than a completed transfer. His position marks a change from his earlier stance, when he was reported to have ruled out offers from Egyptian clubs and prioritised a return to AS FAR.

Slim spent last season on loan at AS FAR after leaving Al Ahly temporarily. The Moroccan club provided him with regular football across several competitions, with the forward making 38 appearances during the campaign.

He contributed to 11 goals, scoring six and providing five assists. AS FAR also reached the final of the CAF Champions League, where they finished runners-up after losing to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The season represented a return to familiar surroundings for Slim. He joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023, having previously established himself at AS FAR, but returned to the Moroccan side after only two seasons with the Egyptian club, this time on a loan deal.

During his time with Al Ahly, Slim played 44 matches and contributed to eight goals. His stay in Cairo has therefore produced a total of eight goal contributions, while his latest loan spell in Morocco brought a further 11 across all competitions.

The 1 August report leaves Slim’s next destination unresolved. Al Ahly remains the club holding his registration, while the player’s reported new flexibility could allow negotiations with Al Masry to develop during the current transfer period.

Earlier, the expectation had been that Slim would seek to remain with AS FAR, where he had spent the previous season and helped the club reach the CAF Champions League final. His willingness to examine an Egyptian option now gives Al Masry a potential route to secure his services, although the report does not state that a transfer has been finalised.

For the moment, Slim’s future depends on whether the change in his position leads to concrete discussions between the relevant clubs. What has changed is the player’s reported openness: after initially refusing domestic offers and expressing a preference for AS FAR, he is now prepared to consider a move to Al Masry.
