Youssef Maziz: French-Moroccan midfielder joins Colorado from OH Leuven

Youssef Maziz, the 28-year-old French-Moroccan attacking midfielder, has joined MLS club Colorado from Belgian side OH Leuven on a free transfer.

Maziz has agreed a contract with Colorado running until 31 December 2028, ending his spell in Belgium after three seasons with OH Leuven. The move was completed on 31 July 2026, with the midfielder arriving in the United States without a transfer fee.

The right-footed playmaker made nine appearances in the Jupiler Pro League Europe play-offs during the 2025-26 campaign, providing one assist. He also started both of OH Leuven’s matches in the Croky Cup, completing the season with 11 appearances across the two competitions.

Maziz joined OH Leuven from FC Metz in August 2023 in a €1.5m transfer. He had developed through Metz’s youth system, progressing from the club’s under-17 side to the under-19s and then Metz B before moving into the senior game.

His career has also included loan spells with US Avranches, Le Mans FC and RFC Seraing. Maziz joined Avranches from Metz B in July 2018 and spent the 2019-20 season with Le Mans before returning to the Metz setup. In July 2021, he moved to RFC Seraing on loan, later returning to Metz before making his permanent switch to OH Leuven.

Born in Thionville, France, Maziz stands 1.75 metres tall and operates primarily behind the forward line. His recorded market value at the time of the move was €1m, while his highest listed value was €2.5m.

The transfer gives Colorado a midfielder with experience in French and Belgian football, following a season in which Maziz featured regularly during OH Leuven’s European play-off campaign. He now continues his club career in MLS under a deal that runs through the end of 2028.

Maziz has completed his free transfer from OH Leuven to Colorado and is contracted to the MLS club until 31 December 2028.
