Le Mans bring in Rennes full-back Rayan Bamba on loan to bolster promotion push

Le Mans FC have strengthened their squad for the new season by securing the season-long loan of right-back Rayan Bamba from Stade Rennais.

The move, announced on Thursday 30 July, sees the 22-year-old become the fourth summer signing for the newly promoted club, who are continuing to build their squad ahead of the campaign. Long-term Rennes prospect continues development

Bamba is a product of the Stade Rennais academy and remains firmly part of the Breton club’s long-term plans, having recently extended his contract there until 2028. During the 2024-25 campaign, Bamba impressed with US Concarneau in National. Playing as a right-back, he delivered a strong season that earned him a place in the league’s team of the season.

Across that campaign, he contributed one goal and four assists, underlining his ability to support attacks from deep while maintaining his defensive duties. His performances in Brittany highlighted both his energy on the flank and his consistency over the course of the season.

Step up at AS Nancy-Lorraine

Bamba took another step forward last season by joining AS Nancy-Lorraine, this time in Ligue 2. The jump to the second tier provided a more demanding environment, but he adapted well.

He featured in 24 league matches for AS Nancy-Lorraine and became increasingly influential in the final third, finishing the season with three goals. That return underlined his growing confidence going forward and his capacity to contribute beyond purely defensive work.
