RC Lens in advanced talks to sign Algeria midfielder Yacine Titraoui from Sporting Charleroi

RC Lens have intensified their move for Algeria international Yacine Titraoui, with the Sporting Charleroi midfielder now viewed as a leading target for the Ligue 1 club.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that the 23-year-old central midfielder has become a priority signing for Lens as they look to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.

Titraoui, who recently turned down a proposal from Olympiakos, is understood to be open to a switch to France and to playing in Ligue 1 with the Sang et Or.

Lens face negotiations over fee and contract

Talks are said to be under way between Lens, Sporting Charleroi and the player’s camp, but the French side must first reach an agreement with the Belgian club, who are in a strong position contractually.

Titraoui is tied to Sporting Charleroi until 2027, and his deal includes an option for an additional year, giving the club significant leverage in negotiations.

According to Africafoot, who first revealed the financial details, Sporting Charleroi have set an asking price of €11m in guaranteed payments, excluding potential bonuses.

That figure is notably higher than Titraoui’s current estimated market value of €7m on Transfermarkt.

Standout season in Belgium

Titraoui, formerly of Paradou AC in Algeria, has developed into a key figure at Sporting Charleroi since his arrival from his boyhood club.

In the 2025-26 season, he featured in 42 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and contributing three assists.

His performances have raised his profile both in Belgium and abroad, with his displays for Sporting Charleroi helping him establish himself as a full Algeria international.

Olympiakos had made an approach for the midfielder, but Titraoui opted not to commit to the Greek club, leaving the door open for Lens to move into a leading position for his signature.

Lens target midfield reinforcement

Lens, who have been reshaping their squad in recent transfer windows, are aiming to add quality and depth in central midfield, and see Titraoui as a player capable of stepping up to the demands of Ligue 1.

No agreement has yet been reported between the clubs, and there is no indication at this stage that other teams have matched Sporting Charleroi’s valuation.

However, with negotiations ongoing and the player understood to be receptive to a move, Lens are regarded as being in pole position as discussions continue over a potential transfer.
