Eintracht Frankfurt raise offer in pursuit of Club Bruges midfielder Raphael Onyedika

Eintracht Frankfurt have increased their bid for Raphael Onyedika as they step up attempts to sign the Club Bruges defensive midfielder this summer.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga side have decided to submit an improved proposal of around €9m in a bid to persuade the Belgian club to part with the Nigeria international during the current transfer window.

The move is also designed to fend off growing interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, who are monitoring the 25-year-old and could seek to enter formal negotiations, as previously reported by Africafoot.

Offer still short of Bruges valuation

Despite Frankfurt’s latest offer representing a rise on their earlier proposal, the figure remains below Club Bruges’ current demands for the player.

The suggested fee is also less than the amount the Belgian club originally paid to sign Onyedika, further complicating the prospect of a swift agreement between the parties.

Onyedika, who operates primarily as a defensive midfielder, is regarded as a key asset by Club Bruges and is under contract with the Jupiler Pro League side until 30 June 2027.

High market value and multiple suitors

The Nigeria international is valued at €23m by Transfermarkt, a figure that underlines why Club Bruges are reluctant to accept a significantly lower offer.

Onyedika’s performances have attracted interest from several clubs, with his age, contract length and profile as a ball-winning midfielder making him a notable option in the market.

Eintracht Frankfurt, however, are hopeful that their latest proposal will give them an advantage as they try to move ahead of rival suitors, including Al Ittihad.

Contract and salary details

Onyedika, 25, remains one of the more closely watched midfielders in the current window, not only because of his valuation but also due to his contractual stability at Club Bruges.

He is reported to earn an annual salary of €677,851 (440,603,150 FCFA) with the Belgian side, a factor that potential buyers will need to take into account alongside any transfer fee.

While Frankfurt have made clear their intention to secure his services by raising their bid, the gap between their current offer and Club Bruges’ expectations means further negotiations are likely if a deal is to be struck before the end of the summer window.
