Real Madrid knocked back in €100m move for Leipzig’s Diomande as PSG wait in wings

Real Madrid have had a €100m offer for RB Leipzig winger Ousmane Diomande turned down, with Paris Saint-Germain still firmly in contention to sign the Ivory Coast international this summer, according to reports in Europe.

Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Real submitted a formal proposal to Leipzig this week worth a total of €100m. The package is understood to comprise €90m as a guaranteed fee plus a further €10m in bonuses and performance-related add-ons.

Leipzig, however, are said to have rejected the approach and are holding out for a fee in excess of €100m before agreeing to sell the 19-year-old, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young wide players in the Bundesliga. Negotiations between the clubs are described as ongoing, with Real still keen to reach a compromise.

PSG maintain strong interest

While Real Madrid push to find a breakthrough with Leipzig, Paris Saint-Germain remain firmly involved in the race to sign Diomande and have been in talks with the German club for several weeks.

Those discussions have yet to produce a full agreement on the structure or value of any deal, but PSG have not stepped away from the table and continue to explore ways to conclude a transfer.

German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday that Diomande has already reached a personal agreement with PSG on a contract running until 2031. Despite that reported accord with the player, PSG are yet to lodge an official bid with Leipzig for the winger’s registration.

The situation leaves Leipzig in a strong negotiating position, with two of Europe’s wealthiest clubs actively pursuing the teenager and another Premier League giant having previously tested their resolve.

Liverpool offer also turned down

Before the latest approach from Spain, Leipzig had already rebuffed interest from Liverpool. The Bundesliga side are understood to have refused to part with Diomande for a €100m offer from the Anfield club earlier in the window.

That stance underlines Leipzig’s valuation of the Ivory Coast winger and their determination not to sanction a sale unless their financial expectations are exceeded.

Diomande’s emergence in Germany and his age profile have made him a priority target for clubs planning long-term rebuilds. Real Madrid view him as a major attacking investment for the future, while PSG’s pursuit and the reported agreement over a contract until 2031 point to similarly long-term intentions from the French champions.

For now, Leipzig continue to insist on a fee above the €100m mark, Real Madrid have seen a first official bid rejected but remain in talks, PSG are in ongoing negotiations without yet bidding formally, and Liverpool’s earlier proposal has already been turned away leaving Diomande at the centre of one of this summer’s biggest transfer battles.
