Pyramids yet to bid for Asad Al Hamlawi despite €5m valuation, source insists
A source close to Asad Al Hamlawi has denied that Pyramids have submitted a €5m offer for the Palestinian striker, despite reports in Romania linking the Kraiova forward with a move to the Egyptian club.
Romanian outlet TRUmedia reported that Pyramids had tabled a €5m bid to sign Al Hamlawi from Kraiova, but a figure close to the player told FilGoal.com that no official approach has been made.
“More than one agent has asked about the possibility of Asad Al Hamlawi moving to Al Ahly or Pyramids, but no formal offers have arrived,” the source said.
The same source explained that Kraiova have set a financial benchmark for any negotiation, even though talks are yet to begin.
“The Romanian club has set an amount ranging between €4m and €5m to let the player go,” he added.
Pyramids stance and striker search
A Pyramids official had already moved to cool talk of a concrete move, making clear earlier that Al Hamlawi had merely been put forward as an option.
“Asad Al Hamlawi was offered to us, but we did not make any official bid to sign him. The striker closest to joining to strengthen our attack is from South Africa,” the Pyramids source told FilGoal.com.
South African outlet SABC Sport previously reported that Peter Shalulile and Tshegofatso Mabasa were both offered to Pyramids following the appointment of Rolani Mokwena as head coach, as the club look for a replacement for Fiston Mayele.
Pyramids are actively seeking to bolster their forward line after the departure of their Congolese top scorer Fiston Mayele, and a number of names – including Al Hamlawi – have been circulated in the media as possible targets.
Al Hamlawi’s rise in Romania
Al Hamlawi has attracted attention after a standout first season in Romania with Kraiova, having joined the club from Polish side Slask Wrocław in the summer of 2025.
The 25-year-old quickly adapted to his new surroundings, establishing himself as one of Kraiova’s main attacking threats.
In his debut campaign in Romanian football, Al Hamlawi scored 16 goals in all competitions, including 11 goals in 33 league matches. Those returns saw him finish the season as Kraiova’s top scorer in the league.
Previous Al Ahly link
Before the latest speculation around Pyramids, Al Hamlawi had been linked with a move to Al Ahly. Despite discussions and reports at the time, that transfer ultimately did not materialise.
For now, the player’s camp maintain that, while interest has been signalled and intermediaries have made enquiries, neither Pyramids nor Al Ahly have taken the step of lodging an official bid with Kraiova.
