Ivory Coast goalkeeper Alban Lafont joins Amedspor on three-year deal
Ivory Coast international goalkeeper Alban Lafont has completed a move to Turkish Super Lig newcomers Amedspor, ending his spell in French football and beginning a new chapter in his career.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper has officially departed Ligue 1 side Nantes to join Amedspor, who secured promotion to Turkey’s top flight and are preparing for their first campaign among the country’s elite clubs.
Lafont has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish side, who moved quickly to secure the services of the experienced goalkeeper as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The transfer brings an end to Lafont’s time in France, where he established himself as one of the most recognised goalkeepers of his generation. After making his professional debut at a young age, he gained valuable experience in Ligue 1 before also testing himself in Italy’s Serie A.
Amedspor will be hoping Lafont’s experience at the highest levels of European football can provide stability and leadership as they face the challenges of competing in the Turkish Super Lig for the first time.
The Ivorian international arrives in Turkey with a strong reputation, having represented both club and country at major competitions. His shot-stopping ability, confidence in one-on-one situations and experience playing under pressure are expected to make him a key figure for Amedspor.
Lafont was recently part of the Ivory Coast squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Elephants reached the round of 32. His involvement at the global tournament further underlined his status as one of the country’s leading goalkeepers.
The move to Amedspor represents a fresh challenge for Lafont, who will now look to adapt to Turkish football while helping his new club establish itself in the top division.
For Amedspor, securing a goalkeeper with Lafont’s European pedigree is a major statement of intent as they prepare for life in the Super Lig. The club sees his arrival as an important step in building a competitive squad capable of battling against some of Turkey’s biggest teams.
Having already experienced football in France and Italy, Lafont will now add Turkey to his list of leagues as he continues his professional journey. The coming season will provide another opportunity for the Ivorian goalkeeper to showcase his qualities and play a leading role in Amedspor’s historic top-flight campaign.
