Mohamed Salah on the radar of Al Ahli

Mohamed Salah is expected to be unveiled as a Besiktas player next week, with the Turkish giants closing in on one of the biggest free-agent signings of the summer following his departure from Liverpool.

The 34-year-old has been without a club since ending his remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield earlier this summer, bringing the curtain down on a glittering Liverpool career that produced 257 goals in 442 appearances across all competitions.

Despite attracting interest from Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League, Salah delayed making a decision on his next destination until after representing Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He contributed three goals during the tournament before the Pharaohs were eliminated by eventual finalists Argentina.

Announcement expected within days

According to The Mirror, Besiktas are now preparing to officially announce Salah’s arrival next week after agreeing a deal worth around €10 million (£8.5m) per season, with an additional €2 million (£1.7m) in performance-related bonuses. The agreement also includes an option to extend his stay by a further year.

The move would mark one of the most high-profile transfers in Turkish football in recent years, with Besiktas adding one of the modern game’s most decorated forwards to their ranks.

Excitement among supporters has already reached fever pitch. During the recent unveiling of former Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard, fans repeatedly chanted Salah’s name, underlining the anticipation surrounding the Egyptian’s expected arrival.

Agent hints at imminent move

Further fuel was added to the speculation after Salah’s agent, Ramy Abas, suggested an announcement was imminent.

“We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season, but we may know very soon.”

The comments have strengthened expectations that the former Liverpool star is on the verge of completing the move, with Besiktas reportedly finalising the remaining formalities before making the transfer official.

If confirmed next week, Salah will begin a new chapter after cementing his status as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players. His expected arrival is set to hand Besiktas a major boost ahead of the new campaign while significantly raising the profile of the Turkish Super Lig.
