RS Berkane release Mouine Chaabani for Tunisia coaching job
Tunisian coach Mouine Chaabani has officially parted ways with Moroccan giants RS Berkane after reaching a mutual agreement with the club to take over the Tunisian job.
The 45-year-old tactician was approached by the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) to become part of the coaching setup of the Eagles of Carthage, and RS Berkane has agreed to release him from his contractual obligations despite his deal with the club running until 2027.
The Moroccan club acknowledged the importance of allowing the coach to pursue the opportunity of serving his country and agreed to terminate their working relationship on amicable terms.
“Following the request of the Tunisian Football Federation, RS Berkane has agreed to release coach Mouine Chaabani from his contractual commitments so that he can join the technical staff of the Tunisian national team,” the club stated.
Chaabani’s exit brings an end to a successful spell with the Botola Pro side, where he established himself as one of the most respected coaches in North African football. His tactical knowledge, experience in continental competitions and ability to manage high-pressure matches made him a key figure in RS Berkane’s recent success.
The former Esperance de Tunis coach had been under contract with the Moroccan club until 2027, but the opportunity to work with the Tunisian national team proved too significant, leading to an agreement between all parties.
His move comes as Tunisia continue their search for stability on the technical bench following recent changes in the national team setup. The Tunisian Football Federation is expected to officially announce Chaabani’s appointment in the coming days as part of efforts to strengthen the Eagles of Carthage ahead of upcoming international assignments.
Chaabani brings valuable experience to the national team role, having previously guided Esperance to major domestic and continental success, including winning the CAF Champions League. His knowledge of Tunisian football and experience competing at the highest level are expected to be key assets for the national side.
RS Berkane, meanwhile, will now begin the search for a new head coach as they prepare for another challenging campaign, having been one of Morocco’s strongest clubs in recent seasons.
