Liam Rosenior vows to turn Chelsea lessons into Paris FC success

Liam Rosenior has pledged to use the hard lessons from his brief and turbulent spell at Chelsea to help transform Paris FC into a major force, describing his new role in France as an opportunity he “couldn’t say no to.”

The 42-year-old was unveiled as Paris FC’s new head coach on Thursday, just months after being dismissed by Chelsea following a short-lived stint at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior was appointed by the Premier League side in January but lasted only 23 matches before being relieved of his duties in April. Despite the disappointing outcome, the English coach insists the experience has equipped him with valuable lessons that he intends to apply at his new club.

Speaking at his first press conference since taking charge of Paris FC, Rosenior reflected candidly on his time in west London.

“We joined the club in the middle of a season and a difficult moment, and I have many lessons I’ve learned.”

He admitted there were aspects of his tenure he would approach differently if given another opportunity.

“There are things that I definitely could have done better and things I could have taken accountability for but there are also good things in what we did as well.”

No hard feelings towards Chelsea

Despite his dismissal, Rosenior made it clear he harbours no resentment towards Chelsea or the club’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, who replaced him after the season.

Instead, he wished his former employers well and expressed confidence that the Spaniard is capable of leading the club forward.

“I wish them all the best in the future. I think they have a fantastic manager, Xabi Alonso, now, and I will look out for their results.”

Rosenior also revealed that the experiences gained during his time at Chelsea would shape his approach at Paris FC as he looks to build a long-term project.

“But those lessons that I take away from Chelsea, we will put into this job and hopefully we’ll help this club be a very, very big club in world football as well.”

A project too good to refuse

The move sees Rosenior return to familiar surroundings in French football after previously impressing at Strasbourg before making the switch to Chelsea.

His work at Strasbourg established his reputation as one of the game’s promising young coaches and paved the way for his appointment at Stamford Bridge.

Now, he believes Paris FC offers another exciting challenge with significant room for growth.

“(Ligue 1 is) a fantastic league. I said that when I left for Chelsea. I feel like myself and the staff have joined such an exciting project, where the potential is so big.”

The Englishman added that the ambition shown by the club’s hierarchy convinced him to return to Ligue 1.

“It was something I couldn’t say no to.”

Paris FC, backed by luxury conglomerate LVMH, finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season and are aiming to establish themselves among France’s leading clubs. Rosenior will now be tasked with accelerating that ambition as he begins the next chapter of his managerial career, hoping the setbacks endured at Chelsea become the foundation for future success in Paris.
