Sébastien Migne appointed new Gabon coach

The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) has appointed French tactician Sébastien Migne as the new head coach of the Panthers.

Migne replaces Thierry Mouyouma, who was shown the exit door following the teams’ poor showing at the Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco early this year.

He now takes charge of the Central African nation as they prepare for upcoming international assignments and future qualification campaigns.

The 52-year-old arrives in Libreville just a day after leaving his position as head coach of Haiti, a team he successfully guided to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His swift appointment underlines FEGAFOOT’s determination to secure an experienced manager capable of leading Gabon back to prominence on the continental stage.

Migne is no stranger to African football, having built an impressive coaching résumé across the continent over the past decade. His familiarity with African football and its unique challenges is expected to be a major asset as he begins his new role with the Panthers.

Before taking charge of Haiti, the Frenchman managed several African national teams, including Kenya, the Republic of the Congo and Equatorial Guinea. During his time with Kenya, he guided the Harambee Stars to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, ending the country’s 15-year absence from the continental tournament.

In addition to his experience as a head coach, Migne has also worked as an assistant coach with several African national teams. He has served on the technical benches of Cameroon, Togo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most experienced foreign coaches on the continent.

His appointment signals a fresh chapter for Gabon, who will be hoping to rebuild and become competitive once again in African football after recent struggles. With a proven track record and extensive knowledge of the African game, Migne will be expected to establish a strong, disciplined side capable of challenging for qualification to major international tournaments.

The Panthers will now look to their new coach to maximise the talent within the squad and steer the national team towards a successful future under his leadership.
