Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to make a return to Spanish football after agreeing to join newly-promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña from Marseille.

The former Arsenal forward will leave the French club in a deal worth €1.5 million, according to Sky Sports, with Deportivo securing the services of one of Europe’s most experienced attackers ahead of their return to the Spanish top flight.

Aubameyang, 36, enjoyed a strong campaign with Marseille last season, proving he still possesses the quality to deliver at the highest level. The Gabon international scored 10 goals and registered five assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances, finishing the season among the club’s key attacking contributors.

The move marks Aubameyang’s return to La Liga, where he previously spent two seasons with Barcelona. During his time at Camp Nou, the striker impressed with his pace, movement and finishing ability, adding another chapter to a career that has included spells at Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Chelsea and Marseille.

Deportivo La Coruña, who have secured promotion back to Spain’s elite division, see Aubameyang’s experience as a major boost as they prepare for the demands of La Liga football.

The Gabon captain is expected to work under manager Antonio Hidalgo, who will rely on the forward’s leadership and goalscoring pedigree to strengthen the club’s attacking options.

Aubameyang’s arrival represents a statement signing for Deportivo as they look to establish themselves among Spain’s top clubs following their promotion.

The striker’s ability to perform across multiple leagues, combined with his wealth of European experience, is expected to provide a valuable presence in the dressing room and on the pitch as the new season approaches.
