Zamalek SC open talks with Fadlu Davids over potential head coach appointment
Egyptian giants Zamalek SC have opened discussions with South African coach Fadlu Davids as they consider him as a potential candidate to take over as the club’s new head coach.
The Cairo-based club has reportedly made an approach for the former Raja Casablanca assistant coach, with initial talks already taking place between the two parties as Zamalek continue their search for a new technical leader.
Davids is currently without a club after parting ways with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca following a difficult spell that was marked by an inconsistent run of results. His departure came after failing to maintain the strong form expected of the club, bringing an end to his time in Morocco.
The South African tactician, who has built a reputation for his tactical knowledge and experience across African football, previously worked with clubs including Maritzburg United and Raja Casablanca, where he was part of the technical team.
Zamalek, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, are looking to appoint a coach capable of restoring stability and challenging for major honours after recent struggles. The club’s hierarchy is believed to be assessing several options before making a final decision.
Davids’ familiarity with North African football and his experience competing in continental competitions could make him an attractive option for the Egyptian giants.
However, negotiations are still at an early stage, and no agreement has been reached between the coach and the club. Further discussions are expected as Zamalek evaluate whether Davids fits their long-term plans.
