Egyptian giants Al Ahly have reportedly expressed firm interest in Cameroon and Vanspor striker Ivan Cedric as the summer window heats up.

The record CAF Champions League holders are keen to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 season under new head coach Hussein Ammouta, with Cedric emerging as one of the latest names linked with a move to the Cairo-based club.

The 24-year-old forward, who previously spent time in Barcelona’s youth system before continuing his development in Spain, recently completed a permanent move to Turkish First Division side Vanspor after the club purchased him from Las Palmas.

Confirming Al Ahly’s interest, Vanspor Sporting Director Osman Yildijan revealed that the Egyptian giants have already contacted the club regarding the striker.

According to Yildijan, Al Ahly have so far submitted a letter expressing their interest in signing Cedric, but negotiations have not yet progressed to the stage of a formal transfer offer.

He explained that while there is genuine interest from the Egyptian side, the Turkish club is still waiting to receive an official bid before any discussions can move forward.

Yildijan also disclosed that Cedric has attracted widespread attention from clubs across several countries, making the competition for his signature increasingly intense.

He revealed that teams from Europe, Russia, Turkey and the Arab world have all made enquiries about the Cameroonian attacker, underlining his growing reputation following his performances in Turkey.

The Vanspor official added that the club has already placed a valuation on the striker and is prepared to sanction his departure if an interested club meets its financial demands.

According to him, Vanspor has informed Al Ahly that Cedric is available for transfer and is now awaiting the Egyptian club’s response regarding the asking price.

The striker’s future could also be influenced by Vanspor’s financial situation.

The Turkish club is facing a severe financial crisis, with debts said to exceed $7 million. The difficult economic circumstances are expected to force the club to consider the sale of several key players, with Cedric among the most valuable assets capable of generating significant transfer income.

The financial uncertainty has also reportedly placed the current club administration under pressure, with concerns that changes in leadership could follow if the situation is not resolved.

For Al Ahly, signing Cedric would represent another statement of intent as Ammouta begins reshaping his squad ahead of a demanding campaign that includes domestic competitions and the defence of the club’s CAF Champions League crown.

Although discussions remain at an early stage, the interest shown by the Egyptian champions suggests Cedric could become one of the key transfer stories to watch in the coming weeks if Al Ahly decide to turn their initial enquiry into a formal offer.
