Yassine Kechta completes Leganés transfer

Morocco Olympic international midfielder Yassine Kechta has completed a move to Spanish second-division club CD Leganés, signing a four-year contract after leaving French side Le Havre AC.

Leganés confirmed the arrival of the 24-year-old on Monday, announcing that the midfielder had joined the club on a free transfer following the end of his contract with the French outfit.

“CD Leganés and Yassine Kechta have reached an agreement for his recruitment for the next four seasons,” the club said in a statement published on its official website.

Kechta arrives in Spain after developing his career at Le Havre, where he progressed through the club’s academy before making his senior debut during the 2021-2022 season.

The Moroccan midfielder quickly became an important part of the team’s midfield, earning regular playing time and establishing himself as one of the club’s reliable performers.

During his time with Le Havre, Kechta made 93 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

One of the highlights of his spell at the club came during the 2022-2023 campaign, when he helped Le Havre win the Ligue 2 title.

That achievement secured the club’s return to France’s top division after a 14-year absence and represented a major milestone in Kechta’s development.

The midfielder’s performances at club level also earned him recognition with Morocco’s national youth teams.

After representing several youth sides, Kechta became part of Morocco’s Olympic team and played a role in the squad that secured a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Leganés believe they have added a technically gifted midfielder capable of providing creativity and attacking quality in the middle of the pitch.

In their announcement, the Spanish club described their new signing as a player with “great technical quality and excellent vision of the game”.

They also highlighted his ability to operate between the lines and praised his “powerful left-footed shot at medium and long range”.

The move gives Kechta a new challenge outside France as he continues his professional journey in Spanish football.

After several successful seasons with Le Havre, including promotion to Ligue 1 and an Olympic medal with Morocco, the midfielder will now aim to make an immediate impact at Leganés.

The four-year agreement reflects the Spanish club’s confidence in Kechta’s ability and their belief that the Moroccan international can become an important figure in their midfield during the coming seasons.
