Azzedine Ounahi: Man City linked with move for Morocco and Girona midfielder
Azzedine Ounahi, the Morocco international midfielder currently at Girona, is being linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City as the English club weigh options to reinforce their central midfield this summer.
The 26-year-old, who joined Girona from Marseille for 6m on a long-term deal in August 2025, is under contract with the Spanish side until June 2030, meaning any agreement is likely to require a substantial fee. His current valuation stands at around 10m, a figure that is expected to form the baseline for any negotiations.
Ounahi has emerged as one of Gironas leading players following their relegation from the Spanish top flight in the 2025-26 season, producing five goals and three assists in 24 LaLiga appearances before the drop. His performances have drawn attention despite Gironas struggles, with his ability to contribute in the final third standing out in a difficult campaign.
On the international stage, Ounahi strengthened his reputation at the 2026 World Cup, scoring twice in six matches for Morocco and starting the majority of their games. He was also part of the Morocco side that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, further underlining his experience at the highest level.
Having previously featured in Ligue 1 for Angers and Marseille, as well as enjoying a spell in Greece with Panathinaikos, Ounahi has built a varied career across European competitions, including appearances in the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers. For now, however, he remains tied to Girona on a contract running to 2030, leaving the Catalan club in a strong position should Manchester City decide to firm up their interest.
