Ounahi, who joined Girona from Marseille for around 6 million in August 2025, is under contract with the Spanish club until June 2030, meaning Brighton would likely need a significant offer to open negotiations. His form has carried into the international stage this year, with two goals in six games for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, where he started the majority of matches and featured heavily in minutes played.

Ounahis route to Girona has taken in Ligue 1 and European competition. After moving from Angers to Marseille in January 2023, he later spent time on loan at Panathinaikos, gaining Europa League and Conference League experience before returning to France and then securing his switch to Spain.

For now, Ounahi remains tied to Girona on a fouryear deal, leaving any transfer dependent on Brighton testing the resolve of the Catalan club.
