Al Ahly await Spanish visa approval ahead of pre-season camp as Barcelona clash looms
Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC are working to secure Spanish visas for their players and technical staff as they prepare for their upcoming pre-season training camp.
The Cairo-based club remain hopeful that the necessary travel documents will be approved in time, allowing the squad to hold their preparations in Spain ahead of the new campaign.
The planned European camp is expected to provide the team with high-level training facilities and competitive preparation before the start of the season.
However, should the visa process not be completed successfully, Al Ahly have already identified alternative locations for their pre-season programme.
The club could move the camp to either Zanzibar or South Africa, where they would continue their preparations ahead of a demanding schedule.
The reigning Egyptian giants are also set to take part in one of the biggest pre-season fixtures in their history, with a confirmed meeting against Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona in the prestigious Joan Gamper Trophy.
The match is scheduled for August 19 at Spotify Camp Nou, giving Al Ahly the opportunity to test themselves against one of Europe’s most successful clubs.
The fixture will form part of Barcelona’s traditional season-opening celebration and will provide Al Ahly with valuable preparation ahead of their domestic and continental commitments.
With preparations already underway, the club’s management is focused on ensuring the squad gets the best possible environment to begin the new season, whether that comes through the planned Spanish camp or an alternative destination.
