Como step aside as Trevoh Chalobah focuses on Inter
Como have effectively withdrawn from the race for Trevoh Chalobah after reaching a gentlemen’s understanding with Inter over the Chelsea defender’s future.
Club president Mirwan Suwarso contacted Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta on Tuesday to clarify that Como will not engage in a bidding war and will only return with a new offer if Inter walk away from negotiations entirely.
Chelsea have already rejected a proposal worth over €25 million including bonuses from the Lombardy side, while Inter continue talks with Chalobah’s camp but have yet to submit a formal bid. Relations between the two Serie A clubs remain positive, and Fabrizio Romano reports that Como are happy to step back given the 27-year-old’s preference for Inter and Chelsea’s €40 million valuation.
Chalobah’s journey to this point has deep roots in west London. He joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of eight as an Under-9 player and quickly emerged as a standout defender thanks to his physical presence and reading of the game.
He debuted for the club’s youth teams at 14 and signed his first professional contract in March 2018, marking his transition toward senior football while still training regularly with the development squad. Last season he made 34 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring three goals and further boosting his profile in the transfer market.
