Sadibou Sane: Monaco sign Senegal centre-back from Metz in 7m deal

AS Monaco have completed the signing of Senegal defender Sadibou Sane from FC Metz in a permanent transfer worth 7 million for the 2026-27 season.

Sane, 22, joins the Ligue 1 club after rising to prominence with Metz, where his market value climbed sharply over the past three years to match the fee Monaco have now paid. The centre-back, who stands at 1.84m and is right-footed, moves from Ligue 2 to the French top flight as Monaco strengthen the heart of their defence with a young, developing player.

Born in Diouloulou, Senegal, on 10 June 2004, Sane has been primarily deployed as a central defender and is listed as a centre-back by Monaco. He arrives with a current market valuation of 7m as of early June 2026, underlining his status as one of the more highly rated young defenders to emerge from Metz in recent seasons.

Sanes transfer continues a career trajectory that has taken him from Senegalese football into the European game. He left Diouloulou FC for AS Academie Generation Foot in November 2021, before securing his move to Metz in July 2023. His development in France has been reflected in a steady rise in his valuation, which increased from 150,000 in September 2023 to the 7m mark by mid-2026.

Having established himself at Metz, Sane now takes the next step with Monaco in Ligue 1, adding further Senegalese representation to the French top flight and reinforcing the clubs defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
