Arsenal eye Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Ben White exit rumours gather pace
Arsenal F.C. are weighing up a move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as manager Mikel Arteta looks to reshape his defence amid growing uncertainty over Ben White’s future.
Fresh from lifting the Premier League title, Arsenal have already begun revamping their backline. The club recently exercised its option to sign Piero Hincapié permanently following an impressive loan spell from Bayer Leverkusen, while defender Jakub Kiwior has completed a move to FC Porto.
Attention has now shifted to White, whose place in the starting lineup has come under threat after Jurriën Timber established himself as Arteta’s preferred right-back.
White future in doubt
Although Timber missed the 2026 FIFA World Cup through injury, the Dutch international is expected to return in time for the new campaign, potentially pushing White further down the pecking order.
The England defender has been linked with a move away from the Emirates, with reports suggesting he favours a transfer to a European club rather than remaining in the Premier League.
Faced with that possibility, Arteta is reportedly assessing several defensive options, with Wan-Bissaka emerging as one of the leading candidates to replace White should he depart.
Wan-Bissaka fits Arsenal’s profile
The 28-year-old has built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s strongest one-on-one defenders during spells with Crystal Palace F.C., Manchester United F.C. and most recently West Ham United F.C..
However, West Ham’s relegation could force the club into player sales this summer, opening the door for Arsenal to test their resolve.
Wan-Bissaka’s defensive qualities and experience in England’s top flight are believed to align closely with Arteta’s requirements as the Spaniard looks to strengthen a title-winning squad ahead of another demanding season.
Transfer battle looms
Despite Arsenal’s interest, the race for Wan-Bissaka’s signature may not be straightforward.
The DR Congo international is reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League, with Everton F.C. also monitoring his situation.
West Ham are expected to demand around £20 million for the experienced full-back, meaning Arsenal will need to decide whether to formalise their interest as they prepare for another campaign challenging on multiple fronts.
