Tariq Lamptey suffers injury setback

Ghana international Tariq Lamptey suffered an injury in the English Championship clash between Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic.

The Black Stars full-back was forced off with an injury after just 35 minutes of the round six fixture of the Championship, held at The Valley on Thursday night.

Lamptey was withdrawn from the highly competitive clash before the break, with Latvian international Dennis Cirkin taking his place in the match.

The former Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion defender, however, managed to walk off the pitch under his own power, offering some hope to his outfit.

The setback comes at an unfortunate time for the Ghanaian, who had recently impressed for Queens Park Rangers, registering an assist and earning the Man of the Match award in his previous outing.

He is expected to undergo scans to determine the extent of his injury setback. Meanwhile, the Championship club will be hoping for a swift return to action as the season progresses.

Lamptey joined QPR in the summer window as a free agent after ending his spell in Italy with Fiorentina following the mutual termination of his contract with the club.
