Orlando Pirates confirm seven more player departures ahead of 2026/27 season

Orlando Pirates have announced the departure of seven more players as the club continues its squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Betway Premiership champions are undergoing another major overhaul of their playing squad, with several changes already confirmed in recent weeks.

Among the notable exits are Relebohile Mofokeng, who has completed a move to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, as well as Bandile Shandu, Sipho Mbule, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Karim Kimvuidi, and Deivi Miguel Vieira, popularly known as Gilberto.

On Monday, Pirates confirmed further departures from head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad, with the club revealing that seven players will continue their careers elsewhere.

In an official statement, the Buccaneers said: “Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm movements around the team ahead of the start of the new season.”

The club confirmed the exits of:

  • Thabiso Sesane – Siwelele FC
  • Selaelo Rasebotja – Siwelele FC
  • Siyabonga Ndlozi – Sekhukhune United
  • Gomolemo Khoto – Sekhukhune United
  • Sonwabo Khumalo – Midlands
  • Blessing Ngiba – Midlands
  • Seth Green – Durban City

Pirates praised the departing players for their contributions during their time at the club, highlighting their commitment and professionalism both on and off the pitch.

“Each of these players has made a valuable contribution to the Club during their time at Orlando Pirates, both on and off the field, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed,” the statement added.

“The Club extends its sincere gratitude to each player for their dedication and professionalism throughout their tenure with us.”

The club also wished the players success in the next stages of their careers as they prepare for new challenges.

Pirates are expected to continue making adjustments to their squad as preparations intensify for the upcoming season, with further transfer developments likely to follow.
