Sambou Soumano: Senegal forward and free agent linked with Stade Reims move

Senegalese centre-forward Sambou Soumano, currently without a club after leaving FC Lorient this summer, has been linked with a move to Stade Reims as the Ligue 2 side assess attacking reinforcements.

Soumano became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following his departure from Lorient, opening the door for Reims to explore a potential deal without a transfer fee for the 25-year-old.

Born in Dakar and standing at 1.82m, the right-footed striker is valued at 3.5m and has spent the past few seasons moving between Lorient and a series of loans designed to give him regular first-team football in France and Belgium.

After stepping up from Lorients B team to the senior side in January 2022, Soumano had temporary spells at KAS Eupen in Belgiums top flight, Rodez AF and Quevilly-Rouen Metropole in France, gaining experience across different divisions.

His market value rose steadily during that period, peaking at 4m with Lorient in late 2025 before a slight drop to 3.5m in June 2026, shortly before his exit from the Breton club.

For Reims, who are competing in Ligue 2, Soumanos recent experience in French football and his availability as a free agent make him a feasible option as they look to add depth and flexibility in the centre-forward position.

No agreement has been reached and the 25-year-old remains unattached, with Reims currently only credited with an interest in the Senegalese striker.
