Simon Adingra: RB Leipzig eye move for Sunderland and Ivory Coast winger

Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra of Sunderland is the subject of interest from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig as the German club assess wide attacking options ahead of the new season.

Adingra, 24, is valued at 22m and is currently on the books at Sunderland, where he plays primarily as a left winger and prefers to operate off the flank on his right foot. The 1.75m attacker has been linked with Leipzig as part of their search for pace and creativity in wide areas.

The move comes at a time when Adingras profile has been shaped by an eventful spell in England and continental Europe, including experience in both the Premier League and the Bundesligas French equivalent. He joined Sunderland permanently in July 2025 from Brighton & Hove Albion, having already built a reputation as a highly rated wide forward.

Earlier this year, Adingra spent time on loan at AS Monaco, moving to Ligue 1 in February 2026 before returning to Sunderland at the end of the season. His market value peaked at 30m during his Brighton spell and has remained among the higher brackets since, reflecting consistent interest from clubs in Europes top leagues.

Adingras rise has been rapid since leaving FC Nordsjaelland for Brighton in 2022, with a productive loan at Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise accelerating his development and drawing wider attention to his direct, left-sided attacking role. His subsequent move into English football established him as a player capable of adapting to different leagues and styles.

No agreement has been reached between Sunderland and RB Leipzig, and the Ivorian remains a Sunderland player while the Bundesliga club monitor his situation.
