Ilyes Mzoughi alleges $20,000 extortion attempt after Raja sacking
Recently dismissed Raja Club Athletic goalkeeping coach Ilyes Mzoughi has claimed he was the target of a major extortion attempt involving an alleged demand of $20,000.
The Moroccan club parted ways with Mzoughi following the circulation of an inappropriate video online, with the decision reportedly taken shortly after he joined Nasreddine Nabi’s backroom staff in June.
Raja later confirmed his dismissal, citing gross misconduct.
Mzoughi has since broken his silence, strongly denying the authenticity of the video and insisting it was fabricated. He alleges that the incident is linked to a blackmail attempt dating back several years.
“Four years ago, I was the target of an extortion attempt,” he said, according to Pan-African Football.
He claimed individuals threatened to release what he describes as an AI-generated fake video unless he paid approximately $20,000.
“I refused to give in to this blackmail or any form of intimidation. Yesterday, four years later, that video was published in an attempt to damage my reputation, tarnish my image, and harm my professional career,” he added.
Mzoughi also indicated that he has begun legal proceedings against those he believes are responsible for the alleged leak.
