Alex Perez: Kalamata sign Spanish-Mozambican centre-back on free transfer from Betis Deportivo

Kalamata have completed the signing of defender Alex Perez from Betis Deportivo on a free transfer. The 20-year-old centre-back joins the Greek Super League 1 side after leaving the Spanish club, with his move dated 6 July 2026.

Perez arrives in Greece with experience across Spain and Italy at youth and reserve level. Standing at 1.93m and primarily operating as a right-footed centre-back, he has been valued at around 25,000 in recent market assessments during spells with Betis Deportivo, Inter Milans Primavera team and Torino Primavera.

Born in Madrid on 10 May 2006, Perez holds both Spanish and Mozambican nationality. He progressed through the Real Betis system, moving from the clubs youth ranks into their under-19 side before stepping up to Betis Deportivo in January 2024. That promotion marked his transition from youth football into the senior set-up of the Seville club.

Perezs development has also included consecutive loan spells in Italy. He joined Inter Milan Primavera on loan for the 2024-25 season, returning to Betis Deportivo in June 2025. A further loan to Torino Primavera followed for the 2025-26 campaign, after which he again went back to Betis at the end of June 2026.

His move to Kalamata represents his first permanent transfer outside Spain since leaving the Real Betis structure, as he swaps Spains Segunda Federacion Group IV for Greeces top flight. Perez is now registered as a Kalamata player ahead of the 2026-27 season.
