Emam Ashour: New England Revolution linked with move for Al Ahly’s Egypt midfielder

Egypt midfielder Emam Ashour of Al Ahly is being linked with a summer move to MLS side New England Revolution as speculation grows over his future in Cairo.

The 28-year-old central midfielder, valued at €4.00m on Transfermarkt, has emerged as a reported target for the American club, with the probability of any deal currently listed as “?” and no agreement in place. The move is being discussed in the context of a potential free-agent scenario, as Ashour’s contract situation at Al Ahly is unclear and no expiry date has been registered.

Ashour, who wears the number 22 shirt for the Egyptian Premier League champions, has built a reputation as a dynamic right-footed central midfielder. Standing at 1.80m and born in El Senbellawein on 20 February 1998, he has become one of the most prominent Egyptian players of his age group, featuring regularly in domestic and continental competition for Al Ahly.

Recent performances have kept him firmly in the shop window. In Al Ahly’s latest league outing – a narrow 1-0 win over ENPPI on 28 June 2026 – Ashour completed the full 90 minutes in central midfield, helping control possession and protect the back line as the Cairo giants ground out a result in their title push.

Ashour has spent his senior career in Egypt, most notably with Al Ahly, and any switch to New England would represent a first move abroad and a first experience of Major League Soccer. With his market value steady at €4.00m and his contractual details not publicly confirmed, clubs monitoring him could yet see an opportunity if he were to run down his deal and become a free agent.

If the transfer materialises, a move to New England could offer Ashour a significant new stage in MLS and reshape both his international profile and long-term career trajectory.
