Cameroon-France goalkeeper Devis Epassy is being linked with a move from Romanian SuperLiga side FC Dinamo to league rivals UTA Arad as uncertainty grows over his contract situation in Bucharest.
The 33-year-old, valued at €400,000 on Transfermarkt, is listed with no contract expiry date at Dinamo, fuelling talk that he could be available as a free agent if no new deal is agreed. The reported switch within Romania’s top flight is currently rated with an unspecified probability (“?”), underlining that discussions remain at a speculative stage rather than an advanced negotiation.
Epassy, who was born in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, France, and holds both Cameroonian and French nationality, has established himself as Dinamo’s number one, wearing the No 1 shirt. Standing at 1.89m and preferring his right foot, he has been a regular presence in goal for the capital club in the SuperLiga.
In his latest outing for Dinamo earlier this month in the SuperLiga – a tight encounter against a fellow relegation-battle rival that ended in a narrow defeat – Epassy was kept busy throughout, producing several saves to keep the scoreline respectable as Dinamo struggled defensively in front of him. His performance again highlighted his shot-stopping as a key asset, even as the team’s wider form has come under scrutiny.
Epassy’s career path has taken him across several European leagues before arriving at Dinamo 1948, and his experience is seen as an attractive, low-cost option for UTA Arad as they seek stability at the back. With his market value relatively modest at €400k and his contract details unclear, the possibility of a free transfer cannot be ruled out.
Should the move materialise, a switch to UTA Arad could offer Epassy a fresh platform in the SuperLiga and a late-career opportunity to reinforce his reputation as a reliable top-flight goalkeeper in Romania.
