World Cup 2026: We’ll go as far as possible – Egypt coach Hossam Hassan
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has set an ambitious target as his outfit gears up for their final 2026 World Cup group stage game against Iran.
The North African football heavyweights currently top Group G with four points and require at least a draw against Iran to secure qualification to the round of 32.
Ahead of the Iran showdown, Hossam Hassan insists his outfit will do everything possible to go as far as possible in the tournament.
“It will certainly be a difficult match. The teams in the group are strong, but we are taking it one step at a time in the tournament,” he said.
“I promise the Arab fans, and the Egyptian fans in particular, that we will go as far as possible in the World Cup.”
Meanwhile, Hossam Hassan has expressed gratitude to former Egypt star Mohamed Aboutrika for his continued support, while highlighting his personal relationship with the former midfielder.
“I thank everyone at beIN SPORTS channels, especially Mohamed Aboutrika, who is a dear brother and friend to me, and played with me in the national team in the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations,” Hossam Hassan said.
“I thank him for his support and backing of the Egyptian national team, and for praising me and the coaching staff.”
