Algeria Begin Preparations for Austria After Jordan Comeback Win

Algeria returned to training in Lawrence on Tuesday as the team began preparations for their final Group J match at the 2026 World Cup after securing an important victory against Jordan.

The Greens arrived back in the Kansas City area a day after their 2-1 win over Jordan, a result that boosted their hopes as they continue their campaign in the tournament.

The Algerian squad resumed work at the University of Kansas’ Rock Chalk Park, with the coaching staff organising a lighter session to help the players recover from the physical demands of the previous match.

The training programme was divided into two groups. Players who started against Jordan followed a recovery-focused routine under the guidance of the fitness staff, while the remaining members of the squad completed a full training session.

The approach was designed to manage the condition of the players while maintaining preparation levels ahead of another important fixture.

Algeria’s focus now turns to their final Group J encounter against Austria, where the team will look to complete their group stage campaign strongly.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 9:00pm local time at Kansas City Stadium, which will correspond to Sunday, June 28 at 3:00am Algerian time.

The victory over Jordan provided a positive moment for the Greens, but the team knows the importance of staying focused as they continue their World Cup journey.

With the squad back on the training pitch, the technical staff will use the remaining preparation days to refine tactics and ensure the players are ready for the decisive meeting with Austria.

The Algerian team will continue its work in Lawrence as it aims to build on the momentum gained from the comeback victory and finish the group stage on a strong note.
