Achraf Hakimi referred to trial after appeal court confirms rape case proceedings
Achraf Hakimi will face trial after the Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed the decision to send the Morocco international and Paris Saint-Germain defender to criminal court over rape allegations.
The ruling was confirmed on Friday, June 19, with the court upholding the previous decision regarding the case, which dates back to February 2023 when a young woman accused the footballer of rape.
Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations since the beginning of the proceedings, describing the accusation as “false”.
The Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed that the referral to criminal court remains valid, according to reports from RFI Sport. No further information was immediately provided regarding the possible date of the trial.
The legal case has continued while Hakimi remains an important figure for both club and country. The defender continues to represent Morocco at international level and remains part of the squad competing at the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan international has maintained his position throughout the investigation, rejecting the claims made against him and awaiting the next stage of the legal process.
Hakimi, who plays for PSG, has been one of Morocco’s leading figures in recent years and played a key role in the national team’s success on the international stage.
The decision from the Versailles Court of Appeal means the case will now move towards a trial, where the allegations will be examined further.
At the same time, Morocco continues its World Cup campaign, with the Atlas Lions preparing for their second group match against Scotland. Hakimi remains available for selection as the legal proceedings continue.
The player has not changed his stance regarding the accusations and continues to deny any wrongdoing as he waits for the next developments in the case.
