France leads valuable squad ranking

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup gathers momentum across North America, a look at the market values of all 48 participating nations highlights the financial powerhouses heading into the tournament.

France top the rankings with a staggering squad value of €1.52 billion, making Didier Deschamps’ side the most expensive team at the competition. With several players valued at over €100 million, including captain Kylian Mbappe, Les Bleus remain among the strongest contenders for the title.

England are second on the list with a valuation of €1.36 billion, while Spain (€1.22 billion) and Portugal (€1.01 billion) are the only other nations to surpass the €1 billion mark.

Germany narrowly miss out on joining that elite group, with their squad valued at €947 million. Brazil sit sixth despite possessing one of the most talented squads in world football, while reigning world champions Argentina rank seventh.

Africa’s highest-ranked nation in terms of squad value is Ivory Coast, who occupy 11th place overall with a valuation of €522.1 million. Senegal and Morocco also feature prominently among the top 15, reflecting the continent’s growing strength on the global stage.

Ghana are ranked 25th with a squad value of €234.5 million, placing the Black Stars ahead of several World Cup regulars including Canada, Mexico and Scotland.

At the other end of the scale, Qatar have the least valuable squad at the tournament with a valuation of €19.93 million. However, recent results have already shown that market value does not always determine success, with several underdogs producing impressive performances in the opening days of the competition.
